Looking at the code. This message is generated by Javascript, so any browser not using script will not display this message.

I would have hoped that at least one of the software staff at Facebook would know how to write and check their code.

The only way this would work is if all schools, jobs, shops etc started an hour later and finished an hour later.

If we must change the clocks to some stupid system, then why not decimalise time and have 10 hours in a day and 5'o clock as mid-day.

If we must change the clocks to be the same as other countries, then should all countries use the same time?
This would mean people in Australia would work in the dark and sleep in the daylight.

Elisabeth Sladen and the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Elisabeth Sladen’s professional acting career began in the early 1970s

with minor roles in Coronation Street, Z Cars and Some Mothers Do ‘Ave’ Em.

Although she worked throughout her life in other productions, she was known most for her time-travelling journalist role as Sarah Jane Smith, in Doctor Who.

She joined Dr Who in 1973, acting initially as a companion to Jon Pertwee, the third Doctor, and continuing by the side of Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, until 1976.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Sladen reprised the role on several occasions for special episodes and spin-offs of Doctor Who, before winning the hearts of a whole new generation of fans in the Children’s BBC series The Sarah Jane Adventures from 2007.

Sadly on the 19^th of April 2011, she died of cancer with only some of the last series of The Sarah Jane Adventures filmed.

It's still raining, so I'll have to build an Ark soon.

To build the Ark:

1; Obtain a large quantity of Gopherwood. If Gopherwood is not available, substitute common Cypress, noted in the Mediterranean for its resistance to rotting.

2; Begin gathering animals to carry in the ark. Start with pack animals, which will make it easier to haul in the necessary Gopherwood.

3; Prepare a framework on which to attach the outer hull, planking and decking. Framework dimensions are 300 cubits (450 feet) long by 50 cubits (75 feet) wide by 30 cubits (45 feet) high.

4; Attach planking for the outer hull, placing a door in the side to make it easier to load the animals into the ark. Also attach decking and two subdecks, dividing the ark into upper, middle and lower levels.

5; Divide the floors into rooms to keep the animals separated and provide separate space for the human crew. Secure the galley so that hungry animals can't break in and eat more than their share.

6; Make a roofed cabin for the upper deck and finish the ark to within a cubit (18 inches) from the top.

7; Coat the hull inside and out with pitch to seal any gaps between the planks and protect the wood. Apply several coats, as the ark must withstand forty days and nights of rain, plus another 110 days of ocean travel and another 7 months of sitting in mud on Mount Ararat.

Wait for the ark to stops moving, (This should happen in about 40 days) and will mean that the ark has hit land.

This was before there was a roundabout or a wall in the middle of the square.

The green shop in the center of the photo was last a bicycle shop, before being demolished and replaced by the new Dorothy Perkins shop.
To the left of the green bicycle shop is South Road and to the right is Hazelgrove Road.

The brick wall on the right is the Priory and the start of Franklynn Road.

Wanted.

Have you seen these people?
The police have had a number of reports that the two people in the photograph below where spotted driving an illegal car thru the streets of London, on Friday the 29^th of April 2011.
There was a false number plate on the vehicle.
The front and back car number plates did not have the same number.
There are also rumours that the grand mother of one of the occupants has also been seen in a car with no number plates!

If you can help with any information in identifying the two subjects, then please forward any
information to your local enforcement officer.

P.S.

There where also a couple of hundred police men on the side of the road they drove down, who failed to arrest them!

Dogs in wrong order.

The BBC has added a DOG (Digital On-screen Graphics) to some of it's secondary channels. (Shame on you)

But what I don't understand is why is the DOG on the top left of the screen with the British channels and on the bottom right with BBC America.
If they had a look at an atlas, they would know that America is on the right site of the Atlantic and England is on the left side.

TV ads should be cut back, say Lords.

The House of Lords want all commercial channels to have an equal limit of seven minutes of adverts an hour.

Public service broadcasters ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 are aloud to have an average of 7 minutes of ads and up to 8 minutes during peak time (6pm-10:30pm) per hour.
Other commercial channels including ITV2, E4, Fiver and Sky1 are aloud to have average of 9 minutes and up to 12 minutes during peak time.

Well a program shown on a BBC channel that lasts for 45 minutes fills a 1 hour slot on a channel with adverts at the moment.

EG.

Dr Who or Star Trek on BBC TV is just under 45 minutes. The same program on a commercial channels fills a one hour slot.
So they have more than 9 minutes an hour or 12 minutes at peak time.
Also as Product Placement will become legal from the 28th of February, it seams that we will have 60 minutes of adverts in an hour.
Product Placement will also mean that we will get a new DOG (Digital On-screen Graphics) next to the channel DOG.

If I didn't she would not be my last girl friend but my present girl friend.

The problem was that I went round to her house one day and said "Are you on your own and can I come in?"
She said "Yes".

But when I entered her house I found that she wasn't on her own, but with me.
So I left her as she lied to me.

More EPG slots with Sky.

If there are "No new EPG slots" on Sky (Electronic Program Guide) which I find hard to believe, then here are some ideas to free up some slots.

1; On Sky 970 and Sky 998, both point to the same channel "Sky Intro".
So remove 970 to give us one more slot.

2; Channel 321 and 322 point to True Movies 1 and True Movies 2.
Most/all of the time these channels have no picture and break up.
So if they can't transmit them at the same power as all the other stations, then remove them from the EPG.

3; There is no proper EPG with the radio stations.
So have one new TV channel with a text service. Then have a text page to select the radio station.
This would work in the same way as the BBC iText selects one of it's news streams.
This would give us 75 more EPG slots, minus one slot for the new TV channel.

4; If ITV4 had a text service, then it could have one page to display ITV4+1 as a stream and a page listing the programs.

We can view ITV4+1 on Freesat (Not FSFS). But switching between Freesat and Sky to view all the different channels can be a pain.

Internet Explorer 9 userAgent bug fix with the WebBrowser control.
I have worked out how to fix the userAgent bug with Internet Explorer 9 beta.
When in IE7 mode with Internet Explorer 9 the full string is returned,
but in IE8 and IE9 modes only return "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0)".
(Note: Internet Explorer 8 is ok as the full string in IE7 and IE8 mode is returned)

Until this bug is fixed with IE9, you can return the full userAgent string by;

First check if you are in IE7 mode with:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
YourAppexe.exe = ???

If YourAppexe.exe =7000 then in IE7 mode, userAgent is ok, so exit code.

They need to let the HTML editing option work,
with the titlebar view source and a menu click over the page to view the source code, with your selected text editing program.

Up to IE8 this would return information about what components you have and the versions.
With IE9 in IE8 and IE9 mode (but not in IE 7 mode) it only returns the MSIE version, operating system, memory block size and the Trident version.

The disappearance of transparency.

Once upon a time, in the time of Windows 95, there was a program called Paint.
This was part of the Windows 95 operating system.

With this program you could save a gif image file with a transparent background.
Then with the death of Windows 98 or the birth of Windows XP, paint lost this option to save a file with a transparent background.

Don't panic thou, as Microsoft Photo Editor, (part of Windows XP operating system) can global fill with transparency.

Photo Editor can also save files in the png format as well as gif and other formats.
So we can now save images with a transparent background in the gif or png format.

So now you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can use Photo Editor to save images with a transparent background?

Where is Microsoft Photo Editor?

To run Microsoft Photo Editor on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Version 0.05.0032 of WebWindow has been out for a few days now.

New options;
If you hold down the 'shift' key when clicking on a favourites page, it will load in to a new WebWindow.
If you hold down the 'ctrl' key when clicking on a favourites page, it will load in to your default browser if not WebWindow.
The user-agent string displays the WebWindow version from version 0.4,
but on some operating systems this did not work.
User-agent will now display WebWindow version with all operating systems.

In the options window you can....
Get WebWindow to display pages as Internet Explorer 7 dose or Internet Explorer 8.
You can now set WebWindow as your default browser, so clicking on a web link in Outlook Express etc.
will load the page into WebWindow.
You can open the Internet options and Firewall settings window in the options window.
WebWindow comes with SourceEdit.exe for displaying/editing the web page source code.

SourceEdit.exe can only handle small web pages at this time,.
but is better than the Netscape or new Internet Explorer versions that don't let you edit the code.

I see that BBC 1 is also starting a BBC 1 HD simulcast channel on all digital television platforms.

As BBC1 has regional programs you will need more room on satellite to have all the different regions.Or will there be;

A; Half an hour of the test card after the national news.

Eg. The whole of the UK will get BBC1 local news from the Isle of Wight, them the next time from South West Northumberland, BBC East Riding, BBC Isles of Scilly ....

or

D; BBC1 London only. (To keep everbody in Scotland happy)

On the 30^th of April 2012 the analogue Channel 5 station will close down for good and the transmitter will no longer be used to transmit any TV from the Croydon transmitter.

So what's so special about this transmitter?

Back in the black and white VHF television days there was only one television station,the BBC (Later renamed BBC1 and now BBC One)
This was transmitted from Crystal Palace in London and later from other transmitters around the country for other BBC regions.

Then on the 22^nd of September 1955, the very first independent channel (ITV) Rediffusion (weekdays) and TeleVision (weekends) was transmitted from the Croydon (TQ332696) transmitter.
Rediffusion/TeleVision later became Thames/London Weekend in July 1968.

When UHF 625-line started (Colour TV) you could get BBC1, BBC2 and Thames / London Weekend from Crystal Palace.So when all 405-line black & white TV closed down, this transmitter was available to transmit Channel 5 when it started years later.

As digital Channel 5 shares the same frequency as other channels the Croydon transmitter will close down all TV transmitions.

From the 21^st to the 28^th of November 2009, on Sky, Virgin and Freeview, but not on Freesat you can watch Dreamland.

Don’t know why the BBC have decided not to show it on Freesat.

If you are a Freesat viewer and you can enter channel frequencies into your box, then you can view it on BBC’s stream 4.

To watch Dr. Who, Dreamland on Freesat, you can view it by tuning into the BBC Stream-4 (audio channel 1) frequency.

Note; The BBC may move it to any of the other streams from 0 to 6.

and agreed that the International Meridian for world time would use Greenwich Mean Time.

All the delegates voted for GMT except San Domingo.
(France and Brazil did not vote.)
72% of the world's shipping already depended on sea charts that used Greenwich as the Prime Meridian.

Since the 1960s, atomic clocks rather than astronomy have been keeping the world's time and have forced GMT to adapt. As atomic clocks are more accurate and the rotation of the Earth is irregular and slowing, mean atomic time and the real Earth time are slowly drifting apart. So leap seconds are sometimes added to GMT to realign it to the Earths orbit.

In Britain we use GMT, but during the summer we use British Summer Time. BST is GMT+1 hour meaning that 1:00pm BST is 12:00pm GMT.
BST was first used in 1916 when it was 80 minutes ahead of GMT and not 60 minutes as Dunlin mean time + 1 hour was used. Then on Sunday the 1st of October 1916 when the clocks went back to GMT from BST, Ireland then used GMT and not Dunlin mean time.

Duruing World Wor Two, Britian also used DBST. (WW2; 1940-1945, DBST; 1941 - 1947)
DBST or Double British Summer Time was used to increase the working times of daylight.

Since 1996 all clocks in Europe have changed on the same date from 'standard time' (winter time) to summer time 'Daylight Saving Time'

Daylight Saving Time starts on the last Sunday in March at 2:00am gmt / 3:00am bst.
Standard time starts on the last Sunday in October at 2:00am bst / 1:00am gmt.

Two ITV 2's, three Channel 4's but no ITV 3, ITV 4, cITV, Film 4 etc.

So the National TV Freeview retune has come and gone on the 30th of September. But as lots of us won't get digital TV or Channel 5 until 2012 or 2013 this will not affect us?

Wrong.

You can have/will get from 3 to 8 multiplexes before the national retune.
6 to 8 from most main TV transmitters and 3 from most TV relays.

Now some relays will only get 2 multiplexes as the HD (High-Definition) multiplex size is increasing.
We will no longer get ITV 3, ITV 4, Film 4 etc. etc. But will get ITV 2, ITV 2+1, Channel 4, Channel 4+1, Channel 4 HD, BBC 1, BBC HD.

So do we need two ITV 2's, three Channel 4's and two BBC 1's?
I wish they move ITV2+1, Channel4+1, Channel 4 HD and all radio stations to the main only transmitter multiplexes.

Then with all the extra room added ITV 3, ITV 4, Film 4 and Sky news or Dave to the national multiplexes.
We can still get the radio from the radio transmitters (or even the Internet). As HD channels need more data than a normal station, by removing one TV HD station and some radio stations they will be able to squeeze in more than one TV station and swap ITV 2+1 with ITV 3, Channel 4+1 with More 4 or E4 etc.

I have used ‘Bable fish’ and on-line dictionaries to convert from English to your language.

Lights out for old 100 watt bulbs in Europe from the 1^st of September, 2009.

It is already illegal to sell 150 watt and above bulbs and all frosted incandescent bulbs in the UK and Europe.
From tomorrow it will also be illegal to sell the 100 watt incandescent bulb.

So we will now have to use the new technology light bulbs, such as compact florescent lights. (CFL) This can save up to 80 percent of the energy used by the worst old-style lights in homes.

This will cut carbon dioxide emissions as part of the European Union's wider climate change. At the moment, around 85 percent of household lights are considered to use too much electricity.

The European Consumers Association BEUC welcomed the phasing out of incandescent bulbs, saying; "Consumers benefit financially from the measure, but most importantly, they will be able to contribute to improved energy efficiency."
However by removing the old-style light bulbs also holds drawbacks for some consumers. There are concerns "about the risks to health from the high mercury content of the new bulbs,"

the group warned.

There are also health problems with the flickering of the light with new lighting systems for some people.

So in a year 75 watt bulbs will go and all incandescent bulbs by September 2012.

The consumer groups agreed that the new-style bulbs make huge energy savings and have a lifetime 8-15 times longer than the traditional kind.

In my home I have a (blue) bayonet 60 watt light bulb I have inherited from my Granddad in 1967, that still works.So if my bulb has lasted for over 42 years, then a new bulb should last for 336 to 630 years.

Please let me know if you think they will last that long.

Is the TV channel 3, channel 2 or channel 9.

It always amuses me when people refer to ITV⁽¹⁾ or an ITV station as channel 3.
In mathematics the number three follows the number two and dose not precede it.

The first television channel in Britain was the British Broadcasting Company in 1936.
Later to become the British Broadcasting Corporation or BBC for short.
Then in 1955 came the various ITA / ITV / IBA regions starting with Rediffusion in London.

TV was in black and white 405 line analogue VHF.
Then in 1964 we switched to colour 625 line analogue UHF, stereophonic sound and teletext pages.

With UHF was born the new third channel called BBC2. (Later renamed as BBC Two)
(Starting one day late due to a powercut at Battersea Power Station)
So the first BBC channel was renamed BBC1. (Later BBC One)

Channel 4 or S4C was the next forth channel to be added slowley over a number of years.

As the UHF main transmitters and relay transmitters where only designed to transmit four stations,
the next channel (Channel 5) was only slowley added to the main horizontal transmitters and no or very few
vertical relay transmitters can transmit it.

By 2013 we should get the fifth channel called Channel 5 as we switch to digital.
At the same second we will also get BBC3, BBC4, BBC HD, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and a load of other channels.
So as they all come in as a joint fifth position, are they all a fifth channel?

In fact BBC⁽¹⁾ London was on VHF channel 1,
but Rediffusion / Thames / London Weekend was on VHF chammel 9.

So channel 3 is channel 2 and called ITV1 but was channel 9 on VHF.
Channel 2 is channel 3 and is called BBC2 and had no channel number on VHF.
And there are lots and lots of different channel fives.

(Other BBC and ITV reagions had other channel numbers)

So when someone says, 'Did you see on channel 3 ...'
Ask them if they mean channel 2 or channel 9.
Or just say
"I can't get BBC2 on my 405 line VHF TV yet".

Teletext will end in January 2010.

Teletext will end on terrestrial in January 2010.

The BBC's Ceefax (Teletext) and ITV/Channel 4 Teletext service was due to close down when analogue terrestrial TV closes down. (2008-2013)

Ceefax and Teletext ware set to be retired after the Digital Switch over is complete, in favour of the more high-tech digital text service.

Ceefax and Teletext has already closed on digital satellite.
On analogue satellite ITV, Channel 4 and BBC local channels have already closed except page 888.
Channel 5 has no teletext. (If it ever did)
BBC London and BBC2 England have a reduced service.
On analogue terrestrial BBC1, ITV(1), BBC2 and Channel 4 are still broadcasting Ceefax or Teletext.
But we now here that all ITV stations and Channel 4 terrestrial Teletext will now close in January 2010.
So viewers who can not yet get digital until 2013 will have no text service.
What's so special about the Ceefax/Teletext page 888 and 284.
As all British viewers know. Page 888 is reserved for the hard of hearing subtitles service.
So if your deaf then we'll have to SPEAK A BIT LOUDER!
As we all know (all thou the Government is keeping it as a secret) you need a stronger signal to get digital than analogue.
So you can check how strong your signal is by viewing page 284.
But if Teletext closes then you can only test BBC1 and BBC2.

STOP PRESS.
They now want to close all VHF FM analogue radio stations and move them to digital.
So if we all need bigger aerials on the roof of our house for TV,will we need even bigger self tracking aerials as we drive around past trees and buildings in different directions?

I would rather have just one or two decent radio station I can here on VHF analogue than hundreds that are too week to receive on digital.

ITV 4, cITV, ITV 2+1, E4 and E4+1 move channel numbers.

On the 24 February 2009 the following freeview channels are moving;
ITV 4 from 28 to 24
cITV from 75 to 72
ITV 2 +1hour from 31 to 27
E4 from 31 to 27 andE4 + 1hour from 30 to 29

I wish they changed them all, so all systems would use the same channel numbers.

Eg.Freeview, Freesat, Freesat with Sky / Sky and Virgin = ....
BBC1 local = 1
BBC2 local = 2
BBC News = Same number for this channel on all systems
Sky News = ' '

and not ...
BBC H.D. = 108 Freesat (new type)
BBC H.D. = 140 Freesat (old type with Sky)
BBC H.D. = 143 Sky
BBC H.D. = 108 VirginBBC H.D. = ??? Freeview

Mark: Yes, I have for years said channel numbers should be like STD codes, but the law says platform providers can do what they like as long as the first five channel numbers are allocated to BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4 (or S4C in Wales) and FIVE.

It doesn't help the multi-platform viewer very much.

On the 12th of January 2009 at 3:00am-4:00am on BBC1 and 4:30am-5:30am on BBC2, the beeb will carry out its annual TV signal power-cut test.
Once a year the BBC's UHF 625 line analogue transmitters are tested for power-cuts and selecting an alternative TV signal path.
As the first main UK analogue transmitters will be turned off before next January 2010 in Scotland, it may be the final test for the whole UK network.
BBC News on BBC1 will be replaced by testcard J and the speaking clock during this test.

The above testcard test was carried out on BBC1/BBC2 analogue terrestrial TV only.
So if you where viewing BBC1/BBC2 on Freeview digital or analogue/digital satellite then you would only see the normal TV programs and not the testcard.
